Happy 2026!

I know, I know, I've been slacking. It's been difficult to gather up the motivation to do anything for the past...well...forever.

My new year's resolution for 2025 was to watch more movies, which, after logging 268 total films on letterboxd, I would call a success! My resolution for 2026 is to continue growing this site and eventually quit social media in favor of creating things, and putting them on here! I spend so much time scrolling and feeling useless and helpless and paralyzed by fear of everything going on in the world. I don't want to look back on my life and see what I'm currently doing.

Here's some things I'm hoping to add/work on this year - I consider this neocities website as a map of my brain, so let's do some more exploring!

Is it obvious that I love starting projects yet?

I also wanted to reflect on the past year by answering these, just because.

End-of-the-year Reflection Questions

  1. Song of the year? According to Spotify, the song I played the most was "Gigolo" by bbno$. Which makes sense, because it's less than 3 minutes long, catchy as hell, and my husband is in the middle of a bbno$ obsession. We both had a lot of fun waiting for bbno$ to release his weekly songs in anticipation of his album drop. If I had to pick my favorite song that came out this year, it would either be that one, or Cupcakke's "One of My Bedbugs Ate My Pussy".
  2. Album of the year? There were two albums that I played over and over again in 2025: "With Love From A Padded Room" by Crippling Alcoholism, and "Communique" by Dire Straits. Crippling Alcoholism has a sound that's so fresh and interesting to me, and I really ought to give their 2025 album another chance. And Dire Straits makes me think of my friend Therese. "Communique" is a skipless album for me, and it quickly became a comfort album for me this year.
  3. Favorite musical artist / group you started listening to this year? There were a few of their songs I'd listened to previously, but I didn't really get into Starbenders until the summer of 2025. I'd like to become more familiar with their stuff, and eventually I would love to see them live (my dream lineup would be Starbenders, Unto Others, Green Lung, and Greta Van Fleet. Not in that order, of course, but I could imagine them touring with Ghost or another nostalgia-fueled goth rock band).
  4. Movie of the year? Of the movies that came out this year that I've seen, I suppose K-Pop Demon Hunters was the most fun I had with a new release. I also liked Mickey 17, Weapons, and Sinners , but there wasn't really anything that came out this year that knocked my socks off. If we're going by favorite movie seen this year, though, that's easy: The Haunting of Muffin Baker.
  5. TV show of the year? For me, this has been the year of Solar Opposites. Besides that, I haven't really seen that much TV this year.
  6. Episode of tv or webisode that defined the year for you? Angelic Kitty Miracle-Chan, a frankly groundbreaking student film directed by Colin Armistead. This short, which I highly recommend watching on YouTube, was so controversial on its debut that it was removed from letterboxd after getting review-bombed by people who saw the short as transphobia from a cis person, rather than the frustration and loneliness of someone who understands what it's like to be transgender.
  7. Favorite actor of the year? Steve Buscemi.
  8. Game of the year? Star Trek Fleet Command! I only started playing it because I was getting Mistplay points, but I'm part of an Alliance now and I love doing little missions for the characters I like. Also 2025 was the year of online bingo for me.
  9. Best month for you this year? February, because I was on the Star Trek Cruise. Which I think is where I'll go when I die.
  10. Something that made you cry this year? Family stuff.
  11. Something you want to do again next year? Go to a concert! We have tickets to see bbno$ in March, but I want to see more.
  12. Talk about a new friend you made this year. I joined a Solar Opposites fan discord, and there are some great folks in there. In meatspace, nobody comes to mind.
  13. How was your birthday this year? It was one of my best birthdays ever! I went to the mall with my husband, my sibling, and their partner. We went shopping, I got a Cinnabon and a lafufu (a knockoff labubu). We also went to a store dedicated to selling dollhouses and miniatures.
  14. Favorite book you read this year? Ashamed to say this but I've been reading the same book ("Lies My Teacher Told Me" by James Loewen) all year without finishing it. Hopefully I'll get some more reading time in this year.
  15. What’s a bad habit you picked up this year? I didn't pick it up originally this year, but I smoked cigarettes in college for a little bit, and then quit. My friend bought a pack for a play and gave them to me, and I haven't smoked any. I do like having them around, though. It makes me want to go out and buy smokes much less.
  16. A memorable meal this year? My husband made dill pickle mac-and-cheese. It was phenomenal.
  17. What’re you excited about for next year? Exploring more music, seeing bbno$ in concert, and becoming a Vest Guy. I saw a geezer at the grocery store wearing this incredible green vest with a million pockets and I immediately knew I needed something similar. Especially one with a key loop so I can hang my labubu from it...the cargo possibilities...I really want to Queer Eye myself and reinvent my style. Once my cargo vest comes in, I'm excited to fill my pockets and wear it everywhere. Especially with camo cargo pants, which I'm having a hard time finding anywhere.
  18. What’s something you learned this year? Owning cats is harder than it looks. The bigger the budget a movie has, the less likely I am to enjoy it. I would rather be fat for the rest of my life than give up good-tasting food.
  19. What’s something new about your place of residence (room, home, or general location) now vs the start of the year? There are three cats in it, and no guinea pigs. Lots of cat toys and furniture now.
  20. Favorite place you visited this year? The Star Trek Cruise...the boat, the destinations, the excursions we went on...all of it. Being on that boat surrounded by nerds is definitely the highlight of my life -- everyone was so friendly and accepting. I felt comfortable wearing whatever I wanted, holding my husband's hand and kissing him in front of strangers, having those frozen "Kiss On The Lips" cocktails...even though I got sick, I was so happy being back.
  21. If you could send a message to yourself back on the first day of the year, what would it be? Don't talk about anything political with your parents. Their lack of empathy and compassion will shock you, but if you want them to be in your life, it's something you'll have to come to terms with.
  22. Did you keep any New Year’s Resolutions? Yes! My resolution was to watch more movies, which I think I succeeded at doing! I wanted to go to the movie theater more often, but I was either broke or there was nothing I wanted to see playing. I ended up watching 268 movies in 2025!
  23. Did you create any characters (in games, art, or writing) this year? No, but I did do a little more work on expanding Felicity's lore.
